Just read the whole ride. really amazing ride doin it solo. Awsome pics. Really wanna do the route u did especially after gettin a taste of himalays during my ride to spiti valley last month. but i cant dare to try it alone.

Though i feel a little more detail would be fun n also could bring u back more memories when u read it in future. Very inspiring. Envy ur experiance :)

cheers,
praveen.

hii adarsh

i bumped into your journal on Royal Enfield's website. I should say one hell of an adventure; & i am sure you would have (looks like) enjoyed every single second of it. Have to admire your guts to do it solo.
Sorry, i am just going on; My name is Prashant H Pillai, a staunch Bangalorean & love to ride. I should admit it is a new interest in my life.
I am planning a ride myself to leh & was wondering if you could help me in preparing (info only) for the ride. I would really appreciate if you could. I could be contacted on 98450 63151.

Looking forward to talk to you.

Adrash

Thank You!
1. Was wondering if there is any special permit to take the route from Keylong-Leh-Kardung La-Marsimek La-Leh-Kargil-Dras-Srinagar-Jammu? If so from where can i get it?
2. On an average, how many kms can one ride in a day? Considering the weather being favourable.
3. Have also heard that one is not allowed to ride after 1pm in the afternoon on certain streches. Is this true?

Hi Prashanth,

You need permission for marsimek la, Khardung la, nubra and pangong tso. You dont need permit for going from leh to srinagar or kargil. The permit is available in the district magistrate's office or better call up the shanthi travel guys....numbers in the contact section of the blog.

2. Start early like 5 AM, you can ride 250-350-400 km depending on roads, stops, pictures, tea breaks etc etc

3. In 1 exception, i was stopped from karu-shakti entrance by the police and they told me i was late as it was the end of the afternoon. I told them that visiblity ends only at 8 PM and i would reach tang-tse by then.

They agreed!

I am not a man to underestimate your efforts. But it looks like you missed the better half of this ride like hanle, the lake circuit, zanskar.
